Native to Southeast Indonesia and also known as May Chang, Litsea cubeba is an evergreen shrub that produces a fruit used to process a lemony essential oil. It popular among the Taiwanese and Chinese. China is the largest exporter of the oil. It has a characteristic lemon / citrus type scent that is wonderful to incorporate into fragrant formulations.

Litsea Cubeba is considered to act as a vulnerary, stimulant anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, deodorant, digestive, insecticidal, sedative,, stomachic, and antibiotic agent.

Litsea Cubeba essential oil is an excellent addition to cosmetic applications, personal care formulations, soaps, perfumery, incense, candles, and aromatherapy.
