The avocado tree was first domesticated in Mesoamerica over 5,000 years ago. Refined avocado oil is yellow in color and exceptionally emollient.
Commonly used in cosmetics, hair care products, massage oils, and skin creams, Avocado oil contains Vitamins A, D, and E and protein and is known for its moisturizing and nourishing properties. It has light sunscreen properties.
Avocado oil can be used -- in lieu of petroleum products -- as a non-toxic biodegradable lubricant for machinery as it withstands high temperatures and its medium viscosity makes it a good lubricant for moving parts.
Refined avocado oil has a high smoke point, making it a good oil for frying and baking. It can also be used in salad dressings, marinades, and sauces and in other food preparations.
